A Dog Deluge Has Arrived In Bluff!
Or so it has seemed to those of us receiving the demand. This period of time has delivered to us, in one way or another, 86 dogs, of which 62 were puppies. We provided a total of 270 dog days of foster care, live trapped 6 dogs, and gave out 650 pounds of dog food to needy dog owners. We traveled far and wide to pick up animals: eight times to Montezuma Creek, once to Mexican Water, once to Mexican Hat, and twice to Kayenta. We vaccinated and dewormed 36 animals, and paid for 6 neuters and 2 spays at Dusty Paws. Paul and Dudley helped for two days in Dennehotso, Arizona at the vaccine, spay and neuter clinic and one day at the vaccine, spay and neuter clinic in Newcomb, New Mexico. BARC provided 10 transports from Bluff to Moab, one transport direct from Mexican Hat to Moab, and one transport from Bluff to Cortez. Our closest near miss involved the transport of a pregnant mom dog that immediately delivered 9 puppies in the vet office upon arrival. Our even more exciting event was the delivery of 9 (2 stillborns) here in Bluff. One of these died prior to the transport of all to Moab four days later. Available space (kennels) continues to be a juggling act as we frequently fill up before Underdog in Moab has space for them at their facility. Tax deductible donations continue to support our efforts. Our entire board wishes to thank all of our generous donors.
